A Message from Dean

Dean Omori recently sent out an e-mail recapping the details of our trip. His message has a few extra details I didn't mention on my latest updates post. Read at your leisure~

Hello everyone!
Well, the departure date for Japan is quickly approaching (9 days away!!) and, like all missions trips, our daily itinerary is ever-evolving!  I have attached below our itinerary as it currently stands (as of 11:00 am today) and have included both Indiana and Japan times (Japan is 13 hours ahead of Indiana), so I hope it is not too confusing to read.   I know our team will covet your prayer support and hopefully the itinerary will give you a better insight of what we are doing during the course of our days there.

Our team of 6 people will be conducting our "Bible English Adventure" (BEA) program at an evacuee camp in the town of Ome.  We are expecting at least 50 children for the VBS-style curriculum and we will get the opportunity to interact with all of the families as we experience the daily life of the camp from Monday thru Friday.  All of the families are from the area near the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant and they had to evacuate with very little notice and possessions.  Please note the blogspot.com address in the itinerary that the team will be using to provide the latest updates on our trip.
Also, for you night owls, we will try to set up a live video stream of the BEA large group activities (worship, skits, etc.).

The latest exciting news (as of this morning) is that the team will have the opportunity to be a part of a work team from Kurume Christ Church (KCC) that will travel to the earthquake/tsunami-impacted region of Tohoku on Saturday, 7/30/11.  It will consist of an overnight bus trip, a 12-hour workday, and an overnight bus trip back in time to participate in KCC's Sunday services (3 of them!).   Plans for this part of the trip will continue to evolve depending on how the BEA goes at the camp on Friday afternoon, but the team knows if God wants us in Tohoku on Saturday, He will make it happen.

Thanks again for your prayers,
Dean
